Activities and Surroundings

Lake Malawi is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. We strongly advise you to visit the area and to carry out as many activities as you can. Below are some suggestions that we love to do everytime we are at the lakehouse.

Ask Amos to have the local fisherman to bring you some chambo to buy. Mkwanda probably makes the most amazing chambo and chips in the world.

Take a walk up to the top of the hills next to the houseto see the amazing views as well as the incredible sun-sets. Please do wear appropriate footwear and be careful and respectful of the wild animals. You may encounter snakes and baboons.

POLICY ON PETS 

1. We are pet lovers so your pets are welcome.

Be careful: 

a) our property is not completely fenced.

b) there are vervet monkeys and sometimes baboons on the property.

c) respect the people who are passing by on the beach and our staff.


2. Pets must not disturb the guests of the other house


3. All damages caused by them must be reported immediately and paid for.


4. The responsibility of your pet is entirely yours.

You can normally find fish locally, we have a trusted vendor, the chef Kamoto knows him, or you can find at Maldeco, 8/10 km away.

There is a market and a few small shops just close by where you can find basic vegetables, food and drinks.

At 5 km there is a shopping centre, Makawa, where you can find almost anything.

Mangochi at 30 km has a big market, some supermarkets and banks with ATM.
